Ida. Identity Atlas, directed by Laura Bortoloni, is a communication design studio that designs curated visual identity systems.
We were founded in 2013 and we utilise a transmedia approach, which allows us to build processes and create meanings together with our clients. We work with companies, arts and culture organisations, non-profits, artists and communicators on a broad range of projects, in order to respond to real needs with communication systems and visual language architectures.
Each of our projects starts with research. For us it is an irreplaceable step of the project. We need not become experts on a subject, but understanding its DNA and getting to know its mechanisms allows us to build a unique and consistent visual pathway. This is what we love about what we do: having the possibility and the duty to continually enter new worlds, with the goal of understanding them and restoring informational complexity to them.
Our projects always start with the construction of the process, which for us is the first moment in which the design methodology is applied, with the perspective that the design of the route we need to take is actually a way to plan the finish line.
